Today we want to show you an updo that we love, which is actually a variation of our own Crown Braid {Milkmaid or Carousel Braid} tutorial from exactly two years ago. That tutorial now now has nearly 2.5 million views on YouTube!<br />

I personally love how this version tucks in better than the regular 
crown braid did, and that the hairstyle still maintains no part lines on

Notice how radiant CGH#3 looks while wearing this braid… it simply is
 beautiful and a definite comment getter! {In fact, imagine this 
adorable hairstyle with little flowers tucked into the twist for a 
wedding or other formal occasion!}<br />

<strong>Step-by-Step Instructions:</strong><br />

<ol>
<li>Begin by creating a deep part on the left side of the head…</li>
<li>Pick up a small section of hair by the left ear and begin forming a 
rope braid {you want to twist both strands of hair to the right first, 
then cross the front strand over the back strand, which which will keep 
the twist from unraveling}…</li>
<li>Continue the rope twist, adding hair <em>only</em> to the front side
 of the hair {as you twist, keep it close to the front of the face, then
 move around just above the opposite ear, and then near the nape of the 
neck, etc}…</li>
<li>When your twist gets close to the other ear, you will not have enough hair to add into the twist. {It is <em>very</em>
 important to keep the twist tight against the head at this point, or 
you will have loose hair when you place the rest of the twist on the 
head.} At this point, continue a regular rope braid with the rest of the
 hair and secure with an elastic…</li>
<li>Now take the end of the rope twist and wrap it up and around the 
beginning of the twist in front, gently placing it directly behind the 
original twist…</li>
<li>Feel free to tuck the twist under the front twist, in order to create the look of a seamless braid…</li>
<li>Simply add bobby pins to secure any place in the braid where things do not look right, or you need additional security.</li>
<li>Add hairspray {if desired}.</li>

Prom Hairstyles

Brooklyn has been a bun lover for ages! We joke that she is the most 
likely to become a librarian, not only because of her huge love of 
reading, but because her go-to hairstyle is always the Librarian Bun!<br />

 Well, a few weeks ago, Brooklyn and I began experimenting with new hair
 bun ideas. We did so because we can see a huge trend in 2014 towards 
buns and hair bun combos!<br />

In 2013, our good friend, Princess Hairstyles, created a Pinwheel Bun,
 using single strand twists to add texture that we loved. Then, a few of
 our viewers experimented with her tutorial in combination with our Love
 Bun this past Valentine’s Day.<br />

Brooklyn wanted to create a bun that had even more texture, in a 
duplicating pattern, that would really stand out. We decided to test out
 using <em>micro</em> rope twists to create this effect, and the end result was absolutely STUNNING!<br />

you use. We imagine this Rope-Twisted Pinwheel Bun being a personal fan

It doesn’t have to stop there… the bun can be perfect for sports, 
gymnastics, cheer, ballet, etc, because the bun holds up so well during 
activity. Brooklyn wore this bun for two days straight, and hardly 
needed any time to spruce it up the second day!<br />

<strong>Step-by-Step Instructions:</strong><br />

<ol>
<li>Begin by placing hair into a high ponytail…</li>
<li>Next, take your bun maker {matching the hair color} and, pulling the hair through it, slide it down to the base of the ponytail…</li>
<li>Now let the hair fall down evenly over bun maker…</li>
<li>Create a little separation on one side of the bun, where you will begin the rope twists…</li>
<li>Next, pick up a small section of hair and divide it into two small strands…</li>
<li>Now, twist both pieces each in the same direction a few times, and 
then twist them together in the opposite direction {this is the standard
 rope braiding technique, and you should only need to twist down about 
4-5 inches or so}…</li>
<li>Then, you will reach two fingers down through the middle of the bun 
maker, grabbing the twist you just created, and pulling it up through 
the middle of the bunker…</li>
<li>Now untwist any  ends,if they are still twisted at all, and pick up some additional hair to combine with your strand…</li>
<li>Again, separate the section of hair into two strands, making sure to
 divide the shorter strands evenly with the newly added-in hair…</li>
<li>Repeat Steps #6-9 until the entire bun maker is covered with the rope-twisted strands…</li>
<li>When you get to the last rope twist, pull it through the bun maker and then rope twist the ends all the way down the strand…</li>
<li>Now, take the end and wrap it under the bun, around the ponytail holder, and bobby pin it securely into place.</li>
<li>Perfect your bun by tucking any layered wispies underneath the 
neighboring twist, and spread the twists out evenly around the bun…</li>
<li>Add hair wax or hairspray {as desired}, and a cute accessory.</li>

A matter of business before we get down to hair …. don’t know if 
appears all the time, or if it is just sometimes – but have you noticed 
on the right column of my blog a little ways down, a picture ad w/some 
lady in a bikini? There used to be word ads from Google over there, and 
suddenly “she” appeared. My biggest concern is — does it bother you? I 
want my blog to be friendly for all ages & I know I’m not the most 
comfortable with it staring back at me (not just because it reminds me 
of what I DON’T look like hehe) So please vote in my poll on the right 
side of my blog if it bothers you or not. If you don’t care then I’ll 
let it run its course – but I don’t want people to be offended or feel 
like they have to be guarded if your little DD is sitting with you

in the 2 outside sections & a regular 3 stranded braid in the middle

there really isn’t an exactness to it. I just wrapped the 2 rope/twist

have the 3 stranded braid wrapped around the outside/top of it all.</a></div>

to hold it all in place. Hopefully you can see the 3 stranded braid wrapped there on top of it all….
  Then once you’ve finished the bun on top – take the hair 
that is still hanging down and pull it up into a ponytail. Try get it 
high enough that it’s not too far away from the bun. Unless you’re 
working with really thick hair – you don’t want to have the ponytail 
down at the nape of the neck. You want to have the 2 buns touching.</div>

Oh, and I tried to comb the hair on the sides down/back a little bit,
 to cover up the part that went ear to ear where you could see her scalp
 … so it had a bit of a nicer look to it.</div>

 of the 2 sections of hair. Tie them off with rubber bands. (I made sure
 the little ends of the hair looped back up into the rubber band – to 
help them not poke out of the bun at a later time.)

<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null">Take the left rope/twist braids and wrap it around the base of the 
ponytail to cover up the rubber band of the ponytail. (By doing so the 
other rope/twist braid should be coming out of the center of it like

first one in a circular manner – making sure it eventually touches the 
bun up above it. My initial thought when I was doing this was to have 
them be so close that it’d look like all 1 bunch of hair – but it didn’t
 turn out that way! I still liked the finished result though.</div>

French Rope Braid Bun

Starting from the sides, split the hair into 2 even bundles and twist
 them twice. After the initial 2 twists, start French Rope braiding 
towards the back.<br />
<b>STEP 2:</b><br />

Unlike the regular French braid, you can not twist or braid until all
 bundles (2 in this case) have a piece of hair from each side.<br />

Therefor,  keep the 2 big bundles -  we’ll call them bundle A and B 
-  immobilized while you gather hair from each sides before  twisting 
them – once.<br />

<li>grab some piece of hair from the left then give it to bundle A</li>
<li>grab some piece of hair from the right and give it to bundle B</li>
<li><i>now that both bundles have a piece of hair, we twist. </i></li>

You simply repeat this process until all the hair is put up before you tie it with a rubber band at the nape.<br />

<ul>
<li>Wet the ends again to continue rope braiding until the end.</li>
<li>After tying the ends, create a tight bun/chignon and simply secure it with a few bobbi pins.</li>
